With '80s Nostalgia and Metallics, Global Fashion Collective Redefined the Runway at London Fashion Week

by Tia Janowski

Amid the excitement of London Fashion Week SS25, Global Fashion Collective stole the spotlight at Protein Studios in Shoreditch with three emerging designers unveiling their newest collections.

From the retro charm of Lenifro X Fab Morvan to SHINOs bold visual kei-inspired pieces and Eduardo Ramos’elegant designs, the runway offered a dazzling variety of styles. Let’s take a closer look at each designer’s collection and explore what made their work stand out on the runway.

Eduardo Ramos

Eduardo Ramos kicked off the show with a bold metallic womenswear collection that radiated confidence and sophistication. The Vancouver-based designer has been making waves since launching his label in 2022 after presenting his graduation collection at Vancouver Fashion Week.

For his SS25 collection, Ramos showcased his signature sharp tailoring and fluidity, combined with a luxe metallic palette that reflected his long-time inspiration, the cycles of life. His Garments featured powerful silhouettes- think bold blazers with strong shoulders and open backs- all crafted from luxurious fabrics that shimmered under the runway lights. Each piece had its own story, yet the collection felt unified in its celebration of bold femininity. The luxurious textiles, combined with the intricate tailoring, made these pieces both wearable and unforgettable. The cohesiveness of the collection, tied together by ruffles, patterns, and metallic tones, created a stunning display of empowerment.

SHINO

Next on the runway was SHINO, a brand whose work is inspired by the eclectic and dramatic style of visual kei bands that blend music with avant-garde fashion. Known for its eccentric makeup and elaborate costumes, visual kei often incorporates dark, religious or occult elements into its designs and SHINO’s collection was no exception.

The SS25 collection took us on a journey through various archetypes, with designs representing mermaids, kings, and queens. The collection featured a mix of striking silhouettes and intricate details, from oversized shoulder pads to feathers and studs. The luxurious fabrics and vibrant colours, including shades of red, purple, and yellow, allowed the pieces to capture the spirit of visual kei and elevate it to high fashion. The performance that accompanied the final look brought the collection to life, adding a layer of theatricality that is essential to these garments.

Lenifro X Fab Morvan

Closing the show was Lenifro with their collection Rob&Fab Forever. The Spanish brand was founded in 2020 and focuses on diversity, inclusivity, and vibrant expression. Their SS25 collection, Rob & Fab Forever, was created in collaboration with Fab Morvan, the last living member of the iconic ‘80s/90s duo Milli Vanilli. The collection paid tribute to the group’s lasting impact on music and fashion.

Lenifro X Fab Morvan’s designs took cues from the iconic styles of the era, from oversized shoulder pads and bold colours to asymmetrical lines, while adding their modern twist. The collection was environmentally conscious, using recycled polyester from plastic bottles as the primary material. Personalised prints in vivid shades of pink, red, blue, and orange gave each piece a distinctive look and the mix of menswear and womenswear made the garments versatile and wearable. The collection featured standout pieces such as a blazer-style cropped jacket, bold belts, and eye-catching patterns that brought the essence of Milli Vanilli to life once again. The show ended with Fab Morvan performing alongside the models, bringing a sense of celebration and nostalgia to the runway.

Each designer brought something unique to the table. Eduardo Ramos’ strong, structured daywear exuded power and sophistication. SHINO’s extravagant and dramatic designs pushed boundaries while staying rooted in artistic expression. Lenifro X Fab Morvan took us on a vibrant, nostalgic trip back to the ‘80s, blending creativity with environmental consciousness.

This Global Fashion Collective show was a celebration of diverse talent and vision, and we can’t wait to see where these designers take their craft next.

Fashion For a Cause: Brands That Stand with Palestine and the history of fashion as a form of Activism

by Oana-Maria Moldovan For over two months, there has been an ongoing genocide war in Gaza. To simplify a long and horrific issue, the situation that started, on a larger scale, around one hundred years ago, and has only become amplified since October 7th 2023. Taking place around the Gaza Strip, the West Bank, and Israel–Lebanon border, the armed conflict is between Israel and Hamas-led Palestinian militant groups.  The problem is about “stolen” land. Said land is seen as an important holy part of both religions involved. But really, how holy can we consider a land to be, if people kill other people for it? It’s important to remember that this genocide is about three things: forced occupation, zionism, and religion. It’s also important to remember what ethnic erasure is. This terrible expresion, also known as cultural or ethnic assimilation, refers to the process by which the distinct cultural or ethnic identity of a particular group is gradually diminished or erased, often due to...

Now What? The Aftermath of the 'Manic Pixie Dream Girl'

by Susan Moore Here is a bit about me: I am an open, excitable, creative AFAB who is also moderately attractive. I have a unique sense of personal style and a personality that on the surface can only be described as “bubbly” and “quirky”. For this reason, dating is a nightmare. To be sure, I do not have a hard time finding dates or potential suitors. The problems arise when said dates spend some time with me and decide that I am a rare specimen, and the connection they feel with me is “unlike anything they have felt before”. Then, things go one of two ways.  Either a) they decide I am too high maintenance and no longer palatable, or  b) they choose to never look further than the surface and are content to date the idea of me rather than the real me. There is something rather interesting, perhaps funny, about my situation. It is in no way unique. I have met so many people who constantly dealt with the same problem. Even funnier still, is the fact that there is a trope that simu...
